Siemen Brinksma

Stabilizing earth’s system is the single most daring challenge humanity has ever faced. I envision a thriving civilization that is in symbiosis with a holocene-like earth system, which is possible, but we have to move fast. I have experience in the field of supply chain optimization, energy efficiency, plastic pollution, fundraising and empowerment of local communities. Next, I want to unlock the power of open-source, platform cooperatives and sustainable innovation to support humanity’s next step.

Siemen Brinksma is a co-founder of Biosphere Solar. The company introduced the first circular solar panels to the solar power industry. Brinksma and his team are aiming to providing an innovative boost to solar panel production through open-source, fair, and circular practices. This initiative not only aims to make the solar industry more sustainable, but it also aligns with larger environmental goals by addressing the significant waste problem associated with traditional, non-recyclable solar panels. Biosphere Solar has made progress in sustainable energy under his leadership, winning the 2021 Impact Contest in the ideation category, which resulted in funding and coaching to help them on their mission.

Biosphere solar is developing an open-source, circular, and fair solar module. Their aim is to provide the knowledge and technology necessary to help the solar industry transition towards more sustainable designs and business models.
